Early Brain Development

Brain Development

Children grow by learning. You hear this often, but what does it mean? From birth, children are actively undergoing a process of sensory and cognitive development. A child’s brain grows to about 90 percent of its adult size by the age of five. Thus the brain is far more impressionable in early life than in maturity.

This plasticity has both a positive and a negative side. On the positive side, it means that young children's brains grow faster in response to learning influences. Brain growth and development is a product of constant stimulation and opportunity. It’s a process that can be speeded using the right tools, exposure and stimuli. On the negative side, it also means that young children's brains are highly vulnerable to developmental problems if their environment is impoverished or un-nurturing. Therefore, these early years are a window of opportunity for parents and caregivers to affect their child’s chances for achievement, success, and happiness.

Children’s brains grow and acquire knowledge based on what they see around them, and it is important that we provide them the resources necessary to achieve their full potential. Starting the whole process of teaching and learning as early as possible is hence crucial. We are all born with the same brain cells as that of any genius that ever lived and all kids can be all things, Intelligence is a function of environment and not heredity.

Children learn quickest in 3 ways: What they see (visual), What they hear (auditory) and what the can touch/feel (sensory/tactile). Stimulating these three senses with enough intensity and frequency will ensure brain growth and development. In keeping with this ideology, our Quantum Cards are designed to fulfil two important purposes (i) early visual sensory development and (ii) build-up of encyclopaedic knowledge.

One important way to stimulate this development is by providing a child with the appropriate visual input. In line with this, Quantum Cards are scientifically designed to meet the sensitive needs of early learners. Each Quantum Card shows engaging photographs or hand-drawn illustrations isolated on a white background that aid visual perception among children, allowing them to process and respond to visual impulses faster.

The assimilation of knowledge is based upon information, and thus information must be short, accurate, discrete, and factual. It should also teach something new that adds to a child’s “quantum” of age appropriate knowledge. As such, each card contains comprehensive information that children can easily understand in order to become full participants in their own learning.

We see a world of opportunity in educating young minds, and that is why we have created a series of Quantum Cards covering a variety of topics. Exposing children to such varied information at an early age gives free rein to the young child’s imagination and broadens their perspective to the world. Knowledge has no bounds, and there certainly shouldn’t be any for your child.
