Get your child ready with the 21st Century Learning skills!

Gone are the days of the traditional methods of learning – the 3 R’s – Reading, Writing and Arithmetic. Here walks in P21’s Framework for 21st Century Learning. In collaboration with the research partners at Connecticut, P21 released a research series based on the 4Cs, which is, Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking and Creativity.

The resources and sets to be included are still under debate, but the common thought tying the process is the use of old and new methods, in sync. Along with academic knowledge, the 21st Century Learning method will also provide for life and career skills to be implemented.

Well, when can we start? It’s best to start practising at an early age, so as to impart the correct values.

And how can we start already? It’s quite simple. Learning begins at home. While schools are yet to take the step forward, as a parent, go ahead already.

  • Out-of-the-box thinking, get the kids to come up with their own rules and games. Ask them to innovate within the games they are already playing. For eg. Currently, you flash the Quantum Cards and ask them to speak the names. Now ask the child to innovate and use the Quantum Cards in a different way.
  • Solve problems, get the kids to solve problems in their own way. Let them figure the best way to solve a problem, instead of feeding them with every detail. And who knows, they might come up with certain wonders.
  • Participation, in case of any issue, get the kids to participate instead of running away. Be it a competition, or a decision making time, make them feel involved.

Just these few things, and your little wonder is all set on this way to master the 21st Century Learning skills!
